Match report
The 1st fixture of the 2006 season got underway with Crane playing host to neighbouring rivals YP CC. Crane produced a steady display with the bat, yielding 185 runs from their 40 overs. A fine contribution from young all-rounder Gurjit (37 runs) and newcomer Zahir (25 runs) saw Crane post a competitive total. A stand of 42 runs between Gurjit and skipper Hardeep saw Crane's highest partnership in the game.

With YP's run chase barely underway an early breakthrough was made by Gurjit taking the 1st wicket with only 7 runs on the board. However, following initial disappointment, YP's put on 65 runs for the 2nd wicket which was later boosted by a match winning 41 not out by Sagar. This put paid to Crane's hopes of an opening day victory, leaving YP's to take the honours.

In the field excellent performances with the ball came from Amarjit, Oz, and Romy, each taking 2 wickets. Plus debutant Chaz helped himself to 2 catches, a fine effort. Star performer for Crane must go to Amarjit whose superbly economical and effective bowling display (7.5 - 0 - 24 - 2) was backed up by a quick knock of 17 runs with the bat. Well done!
