Crane Cricket Club Crane v Ploughmans CC on Sun 05 Jun 2005 at 2pm
Crane Cricket Club Won Win by 8 wickets

Match report
History: Taha Hussain became blinded in his early childhood by a mistake of the local barber who also served as a village surgeon. He oversaw the odds to become a Nobel Prize nominee in literature.

Crane and a warm day welcomed Ploughmans for the first time. The skipper won the toss yet again and on an uncertain pitch decided to put the opposition into bat first.

For statistics and records, Hardeep has won all the tosses so far this season.

Sunny opened the bowling with his usual tenacity & pace and produced a gem of a ball to get Crane's first wicket in his very first over. With the ball moving around on the uncut surface, Ploughmans’ batsmen had a tough task ahead.

In the second over of the day, our own Hussian blinded the opposition batsmen with some poetic swing bowling taking 3 wickets in four balls. The game was all but over for Ploughmans who lost their first 4 wickets for only 4 runs in only the second over.

The skipper decided to make a game of it and rested his main strike force of Jason & Sunny. Bob R. came on for a short stint and contained the batsmen with some good line & length bowling. Then in came the triplets of spin Sanj, Romy and Vinod who took 2 wickets each and by the 30th over had bowled out Ploughmans for 98. The highlight of Ploughmans’ batting was by Pring who punished any loose balls and went onto score 53.

The remarkable thing about the bowling was that all the bowlers only took wickets in one of their overs. Sunny and Ozzie in their first, Sanj in his fifth, Romy in his fourth and Vinod in his third. As for statistics, Ploughmans lost 10 wickets in those 5 overs for 5 runs.

Crane opened their batting innings with the same fervour as their bowling. Uzmat and Romy after a quiet start soon notched up the pace with some aggressive batting. With capability and creativity as his tools Romy soon uncloaked his war bird and rose to the occasion like a phoenix with some blistering shots. Crane lost their first wicket of Uzmat in the ninth over when the score was 49. Romy was on fire as he continued to find the boundaries but was out with the score at 70 in the thirteenth over for a well-played 43.

Bob R. and Sunny continuing their good form, with Bob R. scoring steadily and Sunny being his flamboyant self with some exquisitely executed driving, steered Crane to a comfortable win scoring the runs for victory in the seventeenth over.

Well Done Crane for a third successive win.
