So the search continues as Crane look for their first win of the season.

The art of batting which has been lost for a few games has been found, and through a strange twist in fate has been given to a small Hobbit named Hardeep Frodo. Hardeep must make an epic quest to the Cricketing Table in order to discover it. However he does not go alone. He is joined by Romy Gandalf, Bob R. Legolas, Amo Gimli, Mitul Aragorn, Anoop Boromir and his three Hobbit friends Sunny Merry, Rahul Pippin and Ranjit Samwise with Nik Bilbo Baggins and Sanj Arwen looking on. Through mountains, snow, darkness, forests, rivers and plains, facing evil and danger at every corner the Fellowship of the Crane must go. Their quest to find their batting is the only hope for the end of the losing streak! The journey takes us from the green lands of home of the shire in Cranford to the treacherous fires of Mount Doom in the minds of each of the players.

The weather was fair and the luck was on our side as we won the toss and the skipper elected to bat first.

Romy and Bob R. opened the innings and gave Crane the start they needed with a partnership of 33 of 7 overs with some positive batting against some very good bowling. After the loss of Romy, in came Hardeep who after a shaky start found his form and soon started to pierce the field to find the boundary at ease. YP's best bowler was the left-arm Mumtaz who had all the batsmen playing and missing with some exquisite swing bowling and the pick of his wickets was the ball the pitched & swung in to hit Bob R. Legolas' off-stump.

Crane continued to build partnership and all the batsmen took quick singles to give the now in-form Hardeep the strike. Hardeep now at this fluent best upped his tempo and continued blazing the ball to the boundary at will with some sublime stroke play. He scored a brilliant 73 which included 11 fours. At his fall, Crane were 145 for 4 off 27 overs. Crane's middle order continued this battling display with Anoop, Sunny & Rahul all contributing with stroke play and running between the wickets of the highest level taking Crane past the two hundred mark. In the final over, Nik and Rahul scored 12 runs, which was unbelievable since it was due to some magnificent running. Crane finished with an impressive 216 to their names.

YP's came out to bat with a confidence of a team that can chase a big score. They went after Crane's attack with some powerful batting but after two quick wickets, YP's were 40 for 2 off 9 overs. Up stepped Ufsal and Mumtaz who took the game away from Crane with some beautiful shots and aggressive batting. Crane's bowlers for the first time seemed not to have an answer. They amassed an impressive 136 runs partnership with Ufsal scoring 58 and Mumtaz scoring 82, which gave them the foundations to coast home to victory with 4 overs to spare.

Voltaire once said 'Men are equal; it is not birth but virtue that makes the difference'. Today both YP's and Crane showed how cricket should be played.

Well done and well played YP's.

Crane got its first Jug but the first victory still eludes us but with the batsmen now in form, it is only a matter of time.
