The members of the Crane High Council represent a gathering of great minds who have proven themselves and their abilities in the service of cricket. Confident in their attunement to the Force, the Council members work together in trust, free from the petty constraints of ego and jealousy. Their Council Chamber is a place of open thought and speech, a realm of mutual respect and a haven of shared noble purpose. The Jedi High Council has a membership of twelve and today Crane sends out its twelve in the form of 11 players (Yoda Ozzie, Ki-Adi-Mundi Jason, Plo Koon Hardeep, Yarael Poof Indrabir, Saesee Tiin Jim, Even Piell Rishi, Eeth Koth Sunny, Oppo Rancis Rick, Depa Billaba Amo, Adi Gallia Anoop & Yaddle Vinod) and 1 scorer (Mace Windu Sanjeev).

The objective is simple, after seven defeats in a row; the High Council lead by Hardeep must use its Jedi Cricketing powers to take Crane to its first victory of the season.

The weather was fair and the luck was on our side as we won the toss and the skipper elected to bat first.

Crane made a disastrous start losing both openers, Ozzie & Jason, by the second over of the day. In came Hardeep & Indrabir who steadied the ship with some solid defence as well as being knowledgeable enough to keep the scoreboard ticking over. They made a partnership of 43 off 12 overs and after a gutsy performance from Indrabir, he was replaced by Jim.

Hardeep continuing his form from the previous week went into Demolition Mode with some unparalleled stroke play as he reaped havoc on the ICL attack. With some powerful hitting and exquisite placement he raced to his 5th Crane Century and was eventually out for 107 in the 31st over; a great innings which included 13 fours and 1 six while offering no chances to the opposition until he was out. Hardeep and Jim made a 98 run partnership off 17 overs.

Jim, Sunny and Amo strengthened Crane's position as they continued to play beautifully with some awesome batting and running, making 58 runs in the final 6 overs with 14 coming off the last over.

Crane bowlers came out with all guns blazing and soon started making inroads into the ICL batting line up. Jason bowled brilliantly without much luck where he bowled 5 maidens in his allotted 8 overs. Ozzie & Vinod supported well, taking a wicket each, and at one stage ICL were 110 for 7 needing 120 runs of the final 15 overs. Hardeep bowled beautifully taking a splendid 5-wicket haul as he had ICL down and out at 139 for 8 off 31 overs. At this stage they needed 81 runs of the final 9 overs.

Cricket being much aligned to chess where timing and strategy is all important, ICL began to out-think Crane with their Bishop and Knight moves. To much surprise and anguish they both started to find the gaps and boundaries and managed to keep up with the 9 runs per over run rate. ICL were growing in confidence and Crane were getting twitchy.

In the final over needing 11 to win, Amo, our might rook, bowled an immaculate line and held his nerve to checkmate the opposition. Bishop ended his innings with a well-played 77.

Well done ICL for a wondrous nail biting game of cricket. Well done Crane for getting their first victory. Let the Jugs come and let us all drink to our hearts content in jubilation.

Voltaire once said 'Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too'. Thus a special mention to Hardeep who once again eclipsed himself with a wonderful display of batting & bowling taking him into Crane's record books by being the first player to make a century as well as taking five wickets in the same game.
